Wheatley is an Intelligence Dampening Core genius created by Aperture Laboratories to make GLaDOS stupider and therefore less dangerous. This had mixed results. After GLaDOS's deactivation at the hands of Chell, Wheatley was left in charge of the Relaxation Centre looking after the smelly humans for 99999 years. When he finally noticed the imminent failure of the reactor core he began waking up test subjects to help him them escape. Chell was the first to reach the Portal Device, all previous subjects being killed, presumably due to Wheatley's incompetence.. Then, with Wheatley's guidance, Chell was able to-

Who was it who put GLaDOS in a potato? ME.
Last but not least, give us your character's standard "holy shit, I woke up in a mysterious world for no apparent reason! What the shit is going on!?" intro post.
